Design Engineer - (Show Details)

Organization:
Sturm Ruger & Co., Inc. a highly successful, high-end manufacturer of sporting rifles, shotguns and handguns.

Scope of the Position:
Reporting to a Senior Engineer or Operations Manager, this position has product design responsibility for the location's new products, from concept to production.

Principal Accountabilities:
• Provide solutions to product specifications developed using our VOC (Voice of Customer) process. Create or modify existing gun designs using 2D and 3D CAD drafting tools (Solid Works). The candidate should have experience with programming CNC machines (CAMWORKS or equivalent). The projects require developing the design of the assembly, the working mechanisms and the corresponding detail components for the firearm as well as their material selection. Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a plus.
• The ability to work in a team environment with the various other departments needed to bring a new product to launch.
• Develops the test plans, tests and evaluates functions and performance of product prototypes.
• Develops and executes project plans/schedules.
• Provides technical support to internal and external customers.

Background/Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent is necessary. An advanced degree is a plus.
A minimum of five to seven years of product design and development engineering experience, preferably in a firearms manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated skills in 3D/Solid Modeling using SolidWorks, Pro E or a compatible CAD system.
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances (ANSI Y14.5) is necessary.

Personal Qualifications:
The successful candidate must be a high energy, creative, resourceful and organized engineering design professional. The ability to multi-task and to manage several projects simultaneously is a must.
The new incumbent must bring strong analytical tools. Well-developed communications skills, both verbal and written, are key.

Compensation:
The cash compensation for this position includes a base salary that is commensurate with background and experience, a profit sharing plan and a bonus program that is based on company financial results. We also provide a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.

Maintenance Specialist - (Show Details)

Summary:
Perform electrical hook-up and repairs, and repair and maintain machinery/mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machines and equipment.

Essential Job Duties:
• Maintain all production equipment for supervisors.
• Perform all duties of a Maintenance Tech 1, Maintenance Tech 2 and Water Spider as assigned.
• Install new electrical lines, IT wires, or manage communications lines.
• Installation/maintenance of plumbing and plumbing lines as well as installation/repair of drywall.
• Manager wastewater and knowledge of all chemicals in 90 day storage as assigned.
• General building maintenance, including carpentry, machine mechanic/tech functions.
• Complete welding operations including sheet metal components and castings used in finished products.
• Train and assist in evaluating Tig, Mig, Arc and Gas welders and cutting torches.
• Initiate purchase orders for parts and machines. Repair electrical equipment.
• Clean work area, tools, and equipment at the end of the shift or the end of the particular operation being performed.
• Participate in training as mandated by OSHA standards. Look for additional educational opportunities to improve job skills.
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Comply with all lock-out tag-out regulations.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be multi-skilled or possess tradesman level competency in a specific skilled trade and have the ability to be proficient and perform satisfactorily in these areas. May be required to learn/assist with other tasks. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must have or be able to acquire forklift and aerial lift certifications and maintain such certifications. If working with wastewater and/or chemicals, must acquire and maintain RCRA and Haz-Woper certifications.

Education and/or Experience:
Familiar with CNC controls, circuits and the troubleshooting/repair of each. Ability to assist other plant personnel in the set-up, repair and installation of production/non-production equipment. Four years experience in installation/maintenance of electrical lines and conduit, 110/220/277/480. Four years experience troubleshooting and repairing motor controls, ability to read meters and basic knowledge of NEC. Installation/maintenance of plumbing/plumbing lines. Installation/repair of drywall. General building maintenance skills required and this may include carpentry. Ability to accurately read blue prints and sketches is required. 4+ years experience and the ability to demonstrate high level welding and fabrication skill sets. Must be proficient in the setup, operation and safety requirements of Tig, Mig and gas welders, torches, grinders, saws and hand tools of all types.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fraction and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and to draw/interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. The employee must be able to write/type, speak, hear, talk, read, and inspect in English.

Physical Demands:
Lifting: Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds. Push/pull: May be up to 100 pounds. Job is performed standing. Twisting, rotating of fingers, hands, wrists, forearms, elbows, biceps, knees, legs, ankles, hips, shoulders, neck, upper & lower back are required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision. Must be able to bend, stoop, pivot and walk frequently. Climbing is required. These actions occur typically at ground, waist, shoulder, and above shoulder level.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles and coolant and cutting oil. Will be exposed to outside temperatures of heat and cold. Will be exposed to loud noises, as loud as 85 dcB or higher. Those areas are in a mandatory hearing conservation program as required by OSHA standards. Personal protective equipment that is required includes hearing protection (ear buds or muffs), gloves that are specified for the tasks being performed, and safety glasses. Must wear safety toed shoes/boots.

This role will be responsible for working closely with departments across all divisions to ensure these systems are coordinated, efficient, accurate, accessible and meet the needs of our business.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintaining functionality of and serve as the primary liaison between the Company's three primary HR platforms, Workday, ADP and MyRuger.net
• Primarily responsible for Company-wide security assignments of HR platforms
• Working in conjunction with IT to: (1) support and troubleshoot Workday integrations, tenant management and maintenance issues; (2) manage bi-annual updates; and (3) develop a plan to expand Workday functionality as determined by the Workday Steering Committee

• Taking the lead in Workday and Ruger University internal training
• Developing, tracking, analyzing and communicating metrics for success and evaluating return on investment
• Supporting our Corporate HR and Benefits Director with project work
• Participating in strategic project planning, implementation and management
• Driving Lean culture efforts

Background and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree
• Working knowledge of Workday, ADP and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and ability to learn new systems quickly

Reporting to a reporting to a Senior Engineer or a Value Stream Manager, this position has product design responsibility for the location's new and existing products, from concept to production.


Principal Accountabilities:
• Creates new designs based upon concepts or modifies existing gun designs using CAD (Solid Works) drafting tools. Should also be familiar with the machine programming tool like CAMWORKS. This includes the design of components as well as the selection of materials. Also uses computer modeling to complete product failure analysis.
• Supports and coordinates activities with the manufacturing engineering staff as required.
• Tests and evaluates functions of product prototypes.
• Develops and executes project plans/schedules to satisfy design project requirements.
• Provides technical support to internal and external customers.


Background and Experience:
This position requires a minimum of seven (7) years of product design and development engineering experience preferably in a precision metal cutting environment. Design for manufacturability and previous manufacturing engineering experience is important.
Must have demonstrated skills in 3D/Solid Modeling using SolidWorks, Pro E or a compatible CAD system.
Knowledge of GD&T necessary. Should be familiar with FMEA software as required in a firearms design environment.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent is necessary. An advanced degree is a plus.

Principal Accountabilities:
Nurse Practitioner - APRN is an integrated role of the nurse responsible for assuming clinical leadership, administrative support and the coordination of patient care services within the Strum Ruger & Co., Inc. Newport, NH facility. This role provides occupational medicine (workers compensation care) primary care and wellness/case management utilizing the scientific process and national standards of care as a framework for managing patient care; including ongoing assessments as needed.

Background/Experience:
RN and APRN currently (or eligible) licensed in NH. Successful completion of an approved NP program. Master's level education required.
