Ruger Announces New Short Barrel 22/45™ MKIII™ Hunter

Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR), is proud to announce the addition of a new 22/45 Hunter to the popular Ruger Mark III line of rimfire autoloading pistols. The 4-1/2 inch barreled Ruger 22/45 Mark III Hunter pistol has the grip angle and feel of the classic 1911 pistol, and virtually identical magazine button, manual safety, and bolt stop locations. The slim polymer grip frame features checkered grip panel areas with a serrated front strap and checkered back strap. The 4-1/2 inch target-crowned, stainless steel barrel is topped with fiber optic front and adjustable V-notch rear sights. Those that wish to mount their choice of optics will be able to utilize the drilled and tapped receiver that accepts a Weaver-style scope base adapter, included at no extra cost.

"This new 22/45 Hunter is just the latest in Sturm, Ruger's extremely popular line of Mark III rimfire pistols," said Sturm, Ruger President Stephen L. Sanetti. "The lightweight polymer frame and short fluted barrel are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also create an easy-to-carry pistol for the sportsman or target shooter."

Introduced in 2004, the Ruger Mark III rimfire pistols are the latest refinement of the original autoloading rimfire pistol that was Sturm, Ruger's first firearm in 1949. The Mark III pistols feature a re-contoured ejection port and tapered bolt ears for better performance. The pistols also include a visible loaded chamber indicator, an unobtrusive internal lock, and a magazine disconnect to meet various state sales requirements. Each pistol is shipped with two 10-round magazines.

The new 29-ounce pistol comes in a Hunter-green case with six interchangeable LitePipes™ for the HiViz® fiber-optic front sight, a comprehensive instruction manual, and a gun lock.
