Ruger Announces New Calibers in the Target Grey® M77® Mark II Frontier Rifles
November 07, 2006
Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR), is proud to announce two significant additions to the family of Ruger® Target Grey M77 Mark II Frontier rifles. The compact, fast-handling Ruger M77 Mark II Frontier rifle, with its distinct barrel rib for forward-mounting of intermediate-eye-relief scopes, is now available in the new .338 Federal and tried and true .358 Winchester. The Target Grey Ruger M77 Mark II Frontier rifle features a weather-resistant, glare-reducing stainless steel barrel and action, complemented by a durable, non-warping, grey laminated wood stock. In addition to .338 Federal and .358 Winchester calibers, this model is still offered in .243 Winchester, 7mm-08 Remington, and .308 Winchester. "The popularity of the stainless steel M77 Mark II Frontier rifles convinced us we needed to provide this easy-to-carry hunting package in larger calibers," said Sturm, Ruger President Stephen L. Sanetti. "While decades apart in their introduction, both the .338 Federal and the .358 Winchester are versatile, all-around calibers designed to meet the needs of hunters throughout the world. Having these compact bolt-action rifles available in additional calibers provides a new level of versatility for hunters in wet environments and thick cover, where performance and quick handling are an advantage." The Target Grey Ruger M77 Mark II Frontier rifle's compact, 16 1/2" medium-weight barrel with its scope rib cut for Ruger rings, makes for easy carry and accurate shooting in heavy cover. Front mounted, intermediate-eye-relief scopes help fast "eyes open" target acquisition and tracking, and permit easy loading and unloading without scope interference. The correctly proportioned, short 12 5/8" length-of-pull stock also permits fast handling, particularly when heavy hunting clothes are worn. These models also feature a new light and crisp Ruger LC6™ trigger. The overall length of 35 1/2" allows easy carry with either hand at the balance point of the rifle, even with a scope mounted. Each rifle also includes a Weaver-style scope base adapter, scope rings (supplied with each rifle at no extra charge...an $80.00 value), California-approved external locking device, and a comprehensive instruction manual.
