Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR), is proud to announce the introduction of Ruger M77® Hawkeye® rifles that feature Hogue® OverMolded™ stocks in olive drab green and brown earth. A limited number chambered in .270 Winchester and .30-06 Springfield will be available in both matte blued steel and matte stainless steel finishes.
"These Hogue stocked M77 Hawkeye rifles are the result of Ruger listening to its customers once again," said Sturm, Ruger President, Stephen L. Sanetti. "The introduction of the Hawkeye Alaskan in .375 Ruger, which features a Hogue OverMolded stock, resulted in considerable interest from our customers for similar stocked versions of the other M77 Hawkeye rifles. We decided to provide some limited editions featuring green and brown earth Hogue OverMolded stocks."
The Ruger M77 Hawkeye Rifles chambered in .30-06 Springfield will be available in brown earth Hogue OverMolded™ stocks, while the .270 Winchester M77 Hawkeye rifles will feature OD green stocks. Both matte blued steel and stainless steel versions will be available.
The M77 Hawkeye rifles are refinements of the popular Ruger M77 Mark II rifles, but have improved, new features, including the smooth and crisp Ruger LC6™ trigger for improved out-of-the box trigger pull. Key features of the Ruger M77 Mark II have been retained in the new M77 Hawkeye rifles, including Mauser-type controlled feeding and a powerful claw extractor, 3-position safety, hammer forged steel barrels and free Ruger patented scope rings. The new steel floorplate, now bearing the distinctive Ruger logo, provides easy unloading and eliminates accidental "dumping" of ammunition.
OverMolding, a patented process, provides the ultimate in a comfortable, non-slip, super smooth attractive finish that is durable and extremely quiet. The exclusive cobblestone texture further enhances all Hogue stocks by providing an efficient non-slip stippling pattern.
OverMolded Stocks are constructed by molding a super strong, rigid fiberglass reinforced skeleton or "insert" that precisely fits the gun's action. This super strong rigid skeleton is then OverMolded with a durable but soft synthetic elastomer. The state of the art elastomer material used on Hogue stocks will not harden with age and is virtually impervious to all oils and solvents found around firearms, providing years of dependable service.
These special M77 Hawkeye rifles with green and brown earth stocks come standard with aluminum pillar bedding. Pillar bedding utilizes aluminum bosses embedded in the stock at critical mounting locations and provide an accurate, rock-solid action fit that will not shoot loose. The stocks feature a sleek straight comb, palm swells and a "varminter"-style forend, all treated with the unique Hogue "cobblestone" texture.
Hogue centerfire rifle stocks are designed to free-float the barrel for maximum accuracy. Hunters especially will be impressed by the stocks quietness and lightweight non-slip comfort. The stocks also come equipped with standard sling swivel studs and highly effective, new recoil pads. The recoil pad has a standard screw spacing and is removable, allowing a standard 13 3/4" length of pull to be adjustable or another pad combination to be installed.
