Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE-RGR) announces the appointment of Robert W. Gates II as Director of Law Enforcement, Military and Export Sales. In his position at Ruger, Gates will be responsible for the achievement of sales objectives for the Domestic Law Enforcement, Federal Agency, Military and Export trade channels.
Gates will oversee the network of independent distributors serving the law enforcement community, all international distributors and representatives, in-house law enforcement support activities and the Ruger Armourers training program. As a key member of the New Product Team, he will work closely with the Ruger engineering staff in new product development efforts to meet the firearms needs of law enforcement and international customers.
"Bob will be a very valuable addition to our staff due to his extensive experience in law enforcement and military sales", said Chris Killoy, Ruger Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "He has a track record of developing and implementing successful programs that yield positive results. Throughout his career he has been extensively involved in law enforcement sales, with recent experience in international military and law enforcement sales. Ruger will benefit from Bob's solid relationships, both domestically and internationally."
Gates has previously served in law enforcement and military sales and management positions with Barrett Firearms Manufacturing, Inc., Alliant Techsystems (ATK), Smith & Wesson and Glock USA.
Gates is a South Dakota native with degrees in Criminal Justice and Political Science. He served as a South Dakota State Trooper and in the US Army.
